Description
Based out of our LaCorey Office the Health and Safety Advisor will report to the Supervisor, Safety and Training. This is a professional role within the Safety and Training Department with responsibility to support the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of Inter Pipeline’s (IPL’s) Transportation assets. More specifically the role supports operations by developing, maintaining, implementing, and monitoring programs to promote industry leading performance.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
- Translate corporate and departmental strategies/initiatives into personal objectives
- Coach and mentor on matters that support the safe, reliable and compliant operation
- Support the continuous improvement of health and safety programs
- Support the development of occupational health and safety plans
- Provide financial impacts of health and safety projects in order to assist with budgeting
- Support the development, delivery, and assessment of competency related to training where appropriate
- Participate in and lead incident investigations
- Participate in regulatory compliance and corporate conformance audits
- Participate in planned workplace inspections
- Support safety meetings
- Participate in operations planning meetings where appropriate
- Facilitate incident review meetings when required
- Provide Health and Safety support for Transportation Business Unit projects
- Support Industrial Hygiene initiatives; execute where necessary
- Support operations during emergency situations
- Assist with the execution and assessment of emergency response exercises
- Assist with Safety Data Sheet maintenance
- Provide reports to leadership regarding:
- Incidents
- HID / Task observations / Targets
- Open corrective actions
- Safety issues of concern
Education, Skills & Experience
- 10 years + practicing in the Health and Safety discipline, preferably in the energy sector.
- Post-secondary education in a related Health and Safety field of study
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, setting work schedule and activities in a coordinated manner.
- Professional designation or the ongoing work to obtain a professional designation
- Excellent communication skills
Hours:
Monday-Friday full time
