South Country Co-op is recruiting a Health & Safety Coordinator on a full-time basis, within our Corporate Office in Medicine Hat. The successful incumbent will be resourceful, resilient, detail oriented and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

What you’ll do:
Reporting to the Health, Safety & Environment Manager, the Health, Safety & Environment Coordinator is responsible for providing guidance and support to Team Member and Team Leaders on Health, Safety & Environment issues for South Country Co-op Limited and ensuring compliance with federal, provincial, and local regulations and company policies.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have 1-3 years’ experience in safety and environment administration; a Health & Safety Administration Certificate would be an asset. This role requires knowledge of Provincial and Federal Legislation. Previous experience as an Environmental Reclamation Technician or a Certified Environmental Professional (EP) designation would be an asset; Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) is preferred.

- Current working knowledge of Federal and Provincial legislation regarding Health & Safety
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook.
- Advanced skills working with Adobe
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License and ability to provide a clean Driver's Abstract as apart of the recruitment process
- Ability to complete and successfully pass a pre-employment alcohol and substance test.
- Competent while adapting and working with new technology
- High level of competency and work ethic
- Ability to effectively communicate with people orally and in writing
- Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
- Strong interpersonal skills that will allow you to thrive in a diverse environment

Working Conditions:
- Day to day operations are done from onsite location (Administration office in Medicine Hat)
- Ability to drive to locations within our retailing system when required to facilitate training sessions and Health & Safety audits.
