JOB SUMMARY

The mandate of the Revenue Service is to ensure that all revenue functions at the City of Ottawa are undertaken with a strategic corporate outlook, reflect industry best practices, and comply with statutory regulations to meet the expectations of Council and provide equitable services to the citizens of Ottawa.

You record, maintain and monitor financial securities including letters of credit, deposits, GIC’s and other financial documents provided to the city to secure performance under Development Agreements, Road Cut Permits and Supply/Service contracts. You coordinate with other city departments and external agencies to resolve any disputes or problems, and provide support in the delivery of superior customer service when handling securities inquiries as they have a direct impact in the City’s image and customer satisfaction levels. You also perform other related duties or specific tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of one year of a community college program in Business, Accounting or other related field

Minimum of 5 years of financial experience, including minimum 2 years of experience with letters of credit, site plan agreements and performance bonds

KNOWLEDGE

  • Records management system, policies and procedures
  • Computerized literacy in MS Office Suite in a Windows environment, using software packages including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, database applications such as MAP
  • The City’s computerized billing and financial system
  • By-laws affecting securities
  • Municipal Act
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Language Requirement: English oral, reading, writing
  • Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa’s satisfaction.; Police record checks completed by a third-party company will not be accepted.
  • You may initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement.
