Position Purpose
To be the first point of contact and liaison for Special Events and to provide assistance to Special Events Services. For full details, please see attached job description.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent. Post secondary in recreation/event management an asset;
- Previous experience in a municipal recreation environment with experience in Database Management/Administration along with fully functional computer skills utilizing various programs with a preference for Microsoft Office;
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License;
- Valid Drivers Abstract, deemed as satisfactory by the Town;

JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Special Events Assistant
Position #: SE 43
Department: Community Services
Division: Client and Cultural Services
Reports To: Sponsorship and Special Events Supervisor

Position Summary
To be the first point of contact and liaison for Special Events and to provide assistance to Special Events Services.
Responsibilities
- Receive third party special event requests and carry out the process to verify the third party connects with all required departments and agencies to achieve a successful and compliant event.
- Monitor special event applications and processes to ensure valid, up to date and competitive information is being supplied.
- Assists with scheduling and administration of large events.
- Ensures all applicable departments are connected with special event applicants and coordinates specific and annual meetings
- Maintains annual event schedule
- Provides support to The Link, Georgina Pioneer Village and Stephen Leacock Theatre when needed.
- Assists with data compilation, database administration and surveys for trend analysis as required.
- Review stats and provide recommendations for revenue generation
- Work with communications for website updates, social media, press releases etc.
- May be required to attend Special Events on behalf of the Department and/or assist with set up etc.
