About the Opportunity

Reporting to the specified Unit Manager, the Staffing Clerk organizes staffing requirements as determined by the Environmental Services Department and ensures the reporting of time worked related duties and clerical functions. Other duties may include:


Inputs and maintains the time reporting system and its many processes in relation to departmental staffing.
Inputs schedules into Human Resource Information System (HRIS) as required.
Update employee rotations/schedules in a timely fashion to ensure accuracy in relation to smoothing.
Checks bi-weekly time reports to confirm accuracy and makes required adjustments to reporting time in consultation with Department manager.
Monitors staffing requirements on a daily basis and provides relief as required in consultation with Unit Managers.
Records information such as employee preferences on Human Resource Information System (HRIS).
Calculates and maintains record of charge nurse pay, stand by, and determines the number of hours to be paid for such. (Overtime authorized by the Unit Manager).
Initiates change forms.
Applies collective agreements as they relate to payroll/staffing and pay stubs.
Demonstrates resourcefulness in the use of hospital equipment and supplies as it relates to cost awareness.
Aware of policies and procedures pertinent to his/her responsibilities.
Practices safety awareness in all work habits and reports any possible safety hazards.
Other related duties as designated by immediate supervisor.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • One year secretarial or business program or equivalent previous related clerical/secretarial experience
  • Minimum of one year experience in a clerical position
  • Demonstrated knowledge of pertinent collective agreements as they relate to staff scheduling.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computerized payroll, daily time input or accounting systems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in word processing, database & spreadsheet software programs.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

  • Permanent, full-time position; 70 hours bi-weekly

Compensation and Incentives

$21.73 - $24.31 Hourly
