Summer 2024 Student Program: Administrative & Customer Service
The Toronto Transit Commission is currently accepting Summer Student applications for Summer 2024 fulltime employment. We offer a wide range of entry level and specialty positions in various locations throughout the City of Toronto. Most positions involve working in a unionized environment. Some positions may involve working outdoors, while others may require specific licenses, skillsets and/or work experience.
Eligibility
To be considered for Summer Student employment, you must be:
- Availability to throughout May 6, 2024 to August 23, 2024; students are required to work for the full duration of the term,
- Eligible to work in Canada,
- A full-time student, enrolled in full-time studies (Winter 2024 academic term) at a registered institution

The Toronto Transit Commission will do education, work, security and reference checks which will be used for employment assessment purposes only. Employment is conditional upon satisfactory reference checks, a criminal record search, and completion of pre-placement health assessment related to the position. If the position is designated Safety-Sensitive under the TTC's Fitness for Duty Policy, you will be required to pass a drug test as part of the certification process.

Our Administrative and Customer Service category includes a variety of roles that pertain to front line and behind the scenes operational duties that TTC relies on to ensure our customers are well-informed, receive timely and appropriate solutions to any inquires, and ultimately have a smooth experience on their transit journey. Requirements
Each role has its unique requirements, but all roles include the general requirements listed below:
- Customer service skills: ability to handle customer inquiries, provide solutions and direct any questions to appropriate contacts when and if necessary;
- Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, and good organizational skills with the ability to meet required deadlines
- Problem Solving: understanding the issues at hand and using TTC resources to provide the most appropriate solutions
- Knowledge of modern office methods, procedures, practices and equipment
- Knowledge of computers and proficiency in computerized applications related to the work (e.g. various databases, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.) and possess good keyboarding skills
- Will be required to successfully complete TTC's in-house training relevant to this position.
Shifts
The TTC operates 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Therefore, students must be flexible and willing to work shift work, as 80% of the positions available involve working various shifts (morning, afternoon, nights), which may include working weekends and holidays.
