Position Summary
The overall goal is to significantly contribute to the ongoing success of the BGC Greater Saint John by ensuring excellent, quality programs are being offered to our youth in the Grand Bay Westfield area. This is done by coordinating, planning and implementing after-school and evening youth programs at the River Valley Youth Centre, as well as supporting program staff in doing the same. It is the responsibility of the Team Lead that all programs and activities are being run in accordance with the mission and goals of the BGC and will adapt staffing schedules, activities and programs accordingly.

Job Tasks
- Be familiar with all BGC policies, practices, service expectations and guidelines for operating Youth Programming at RVYC
- Provide Direct supervision of youth, ensuring their safety and well being at all times.
- Be the main point of contact for parents and families for your program. Ensure that they are receiving clear, accurate and regular communications about your program
- Support Management team with staffing through recruitment, orientation and maintaining of all staff files. Ensure staff feel appropriately trained and supported in their role
- Create the daily schedule for staff to facilitate your program
- Develop and Implement programs
- Create programs that interest your youth and fit your communities needs, work with management and staff team. Utilize BGC current and archived programs, create new ideas through community partners or resources. Review grant opportunities for ideas. Promote programs throughout the community.
- Help create grant applications, accurately gather and maintain data on program implementation such as attendance, impact statements, photos and any other details required by BGC national or other partners. Post social media acknowledgements and help to complete the final reports.
- Ensure that youth are greeted when arriving, and staff are committed to understanding the youth they serve and trying their best to meet the needs of these youth.
- Work with youth and staff to help solve conflicts in a fair and positive manner, role model appropriate behaviour
- Connect with community partners such as schools, River Valley Youth Centre staff, Municipality, local business’s, other childcare and youth serving organizations
- Represent BGC Greater Saint John at community meetings, conferences and community events. Plan and implement BGC community events and activities to encourage community participation. Through these avenues consistently promoting the Club's mission and vision.
- Manage program space. Ensure it is safe, organized and professional. Work with building manager to ensure space maintained accordingly
Expected Outcomes
- Participate in ABC annual reviews for self and staff
- Work towards completing program grants independently
- Identifying learning and development opportunities for this role and for your program staff
- Seek out funding through:
- Fundraising ideas (Ex. Selling Fly or Dine tickets)
- Partnerships with community (Ex. Fire department canteen, 50/50)
- Completing smaller grants (Ex. Municipal $1000 grant)
- Pay is $16.00/hour
