Tridon Communications is currently seeking a Telecommunication Systems Administrator to add to our growing Team in Terrace, BC. This position is local, working directly on clients LNGC Site in Kitimat, BC. Relocation assistance provided.
About the Job:
A Telecommunication System Administrator is responsible for managing and optimizing the telecommunications infrastructure within the client’s site. The role involves overseeing the configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various Telecommunication Systems, access control, connectivity, and communication across the client’s site.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Ensure reliability and secure connectivity and communication across the site
- Installation and termination of wireless computing networks, cabling, connections, switches, and routers
- Full utilization of SolarWinds system, HP and HPE Aruba Networks
- Oversee and manage 20+ Telecom Systems within SolarWinds, monitoring alerts and triggering alarms.
- Configure and maintain CCTV systems, including networking of cameras.
- Add card readers and devices, manage alerts, and serve as the main point of contact for the SolarWinds system.
- Configure, address, and mitigate access control settings, malicious activity, and intrusion detection features within the ProWatch system.
- Set up, maintain, monitor, and ensure functionality and reliability of the Public Address and General Alarm (PAGA) system including emergency communication.
- Address all of client’s networking and systems requirements either remotely or at client’s premises
- Knowledgeable about TCP/IP protocols, DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, and other networking basics
- Inspect LAN/WAN infrastructures and troubleshoot any issues affecting them, Fix and maintain hardware and peripheral devices
- Familiar with virtualization technologies, such as Hyper-V and VMware
- Support other work scopes during downtime, such as structured cabling, maintaining computer equipment, cabling, routers, switches, and network peripherals
Must Haves:
- Diploma in Computer Sciences or relevant Electronics or Communications field
- A suitable combination of relevant education and experience will be considered
- Valid Class 5 Operator’s License or equivalent
- Full Driver’s License
- Driver’s Abstract (5-years)
- Clear Criminal Background Check
- Successfully passing a Pre-Access Drug & Alcohol Test is a condition of employment for access to client site as well as maintaining the ability to successfully pass a drug and alcohol test for continued access to site.
Experience and Training:
- Proficient in SolarWinds system: SolarWinds High Availability for SolarWinds Orion, SolarWinds Network Configuration Manager DL1000, and SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor SL2000
- Relevant experience with PAGA System, preferably within Industronic (Germany)
- Competent in Pro-Watch by Honeywell building control system
- Experienced with SNMP Encoder, Windows Server, Microsoft SQL Server, and Genesis Genwatch3 TRBO Software
- Strong familiarity with HP and HPE Aruba Networks
- 1+ year experience in structured cabling is an asset
- 1+ year experience in Networking is an asset
- Excellent understanding of networking requirements and wiring standards applicable to the telecommunications industry
- Ability to grasp new techniques, and deal with rapidly changing events
- Ability to work safely in hazardous environments with knowledge and understanding of occupational hazards and safe work requirements (OH&S)
- Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
- Knowledge of hand and power tools, test equipment and design/fabrication techniques
- Knowledge of applicable telecommunication codes, standards, and regulations.

Physical Demands
The Telecommunication Systems Administrator must be able to spend the majority of the day sitting, walking, and/or standing. They may be required to stoop, bend, kneel and squat for extended periods of time. They also may be required to carry equipment weighing up to 50lbs for short distances.
