Job Functions:

  • Oversee and manage all operations within the Shipping & Receiving department.
  • Uphold and ensure compliance with safety standards in Shipping & Receiving practices.
  • Establish priorities for the Shipping & Receiving department and effectively delegate tasks.
  • Provide comprehensive training and supervision to shippers and receivers on company policies and procedures.
  • Continuously maintain and reinforce safe shipping and receiving standards.
  • Efficiently schedule shifts to optimize workforce coverage and productivity.
  • Assign and align staff to specific tasks, ensuring timely project completion and task prioritization.
  • Review, approve, and submit employee timecards and absence request forms.
  • Address and assist in resolving employee complaints, collaborate with HR when necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to standards and cultivate a safe work environment.
  • Serve as a liaison between production departments and Shipping & Receiving, coordinating and communicating relevant information.
  • Facilitate and coordinate necessary staff meetings as required.
  • Ensure the completion of all essential paperwork at the end of each shift.

Shipping/Receiving Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with project managers, production manager, and production staff to identify nearing completion of jobs in the production process.
  • Organize, package, and label loose parts for completed jobs to be shipped.
  • Create accurate and comprehensive packing slips for finished jobs and ensure their completion.
  • Submit packing slips to respective Project Managers for sign-off and further submission to document control.
  • Coordinate with clients or contracted shipping companies for shipping details, including dimensions, weights, and schedules.
  • Ensure timely submission of bills of lading and all necessary shipping documentation as per company and client requirements.
  • Internally communicate shipping plans using Outlook calendar invitations to relevant stakeholders.
  • Supervise the load-out process of finished goods, ensuring safety, proper documentation, and communication among team members.
  • Verbally communicate shipping plans to the Materials Manager and responsible Project Manager for immediate coordination.
  • Coordinate cranes/pickers, if required, for cost-effective load-outs.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures during the handling of merchandise and equipment.
  • Receive materials as per purchase orders, report any discrepancies to the purchasing department, and ensure proper storage and inventory counts.
  • Collaborate with various departments to resolve material issues for production effectively.
  • Verify received materials against packing slips and purchase orders for accuracy, including physical dimension checks.
  • Complete necessary documentation such as Material Test Reports (MTRs), Certificates of Compliance, etc.
  • Verify that all materials have appropriate information for their classification.
  • Organize received items according to purchase orders or assign logical locations for efficient storage.
  • Pick materials according to pick lists, marking parts with job numbers and placing them in job boxes or staging areas.
  • Ship job boxes to shops as requested, maintaining organized storage in the yards and warehouse.
  • Conduct cycle counts and inventory checks as required for accurate stock management.

Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of warehouse experience.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory-staff management and leadership experience.
  • Previous experience in a Metal Manufacturing facility is preferred.
  • Ability to enforce company policies and procedures effectively.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work under pressure.
  • Availability for shift work, holidays, and weekends.
  • Familiarity with loading equipment (e.g., cranes, pickers, forklifts).
  • Knowledge or experience with shipping processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Programs: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Familiarity with Made 2 Manage (M2M) ERP system is advantageous.

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

This position is located in our Innisfail location.
