Job Summary
Apply your expertise in program and policy analysis to support exceptional service delivery
The Primary Care Division (PCD) sets the provincial direction to support a high functioning primary health-care system that meets the needs of all British Columbians. This includes leading reforms that support primary care as the foundation of a full-service, community-based, integrated system of person and family-centred care. These reforms are built around team-based care provided through a mix of full-service family practices and other models including, urgent and primary care centres and community health centres, linked together with other primary and community care services as part of local primary care networks.
The Strategy team of the Primary Care Division brings with it the ability to clearly delineate core strategy work from operational planning and implementation processes, further developing much needed Primary Care policies.
The Policy Analyst will manage assigned policy development projects focused on the review and revision of existing ministry programs or legislation. This will include leading project teams, conducting stakeholder consultations and consolidating recommendations into briefing notes and other documents.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, or Public Administration, Public Policy, or Health Sciences, or Social Sciences, or Law, or a related field and a minimum of 2 years of recent, related experience; OR
  • Diploma in Business, or Public Administration, Public Policy, or Health Sciences, or Social Sciences, or Law, or a related field and a minimum of 3 years recent related experience; OR
  • Certificate or coursework in a related field plus 4 years recent, related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience and 5 years of related experience may be considered.

Recent related experience must include all of the following:
  • Experience performing in-depth research and analysis of policy issues and preparing options and recommendations.
  • Experience writing a variety of documents and/or content for a broad range of audiences, including senior officials.
  • Experience managing programs and/or program components.
  • Experience providing advice and recommendations on policy, program, and service issues.

Preference may be given to applicants with any of the following:
  • Experience obtained while working in policy in the public sector.
  • Experience researching policy issues and conducting policy analysis.
  • Experience working in the health sector.
  • Experience providing advice and recommendations on policy, program, and services issues in the health care or social policy sector.
  • Preference may be given to applicants who identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit).
