Reporting to the Manager, Power Systems Projects within the Strategic Projects department of Hydro One the qualified candidate will provide outstanding project management skills with a focus on scheduling, monitoring, tracking, reporting and controlling. Specifically, we are looking for a person with at least four years of relevant experience in fields such as project management and project development within the electrical utility sector.  
General Accountabilities:
-Conduct technical/economic/environmental/business/regulatory impact assessments and other specialized technical/business studies. Prepare comprehensive reports and specifications, and present recommendations to resolve issues.
-Monitor, control and redirect major programs and complex projects during the planning (development) phase by providing supervisor with solutions to project performance, scope, cost and schedule issues.
-Participate in the development, definition and preparation of programs, processes, technical/operational/business standards, procedures or methods including:
-Risk management,
-Reporting on work breakdown structures,
-Preparing project execution plans,
-Monitoring of project scope, goals, deliverables, quality and compliance requirements,
-Plan and prepare accurate cost estimates and cost control reports.
-Be responsible for the preparation of contract specifications and awards and provide necessary technical direction to service providers.
-Liaise with other internal work groups, divisions and outside interests.
-Perform other duties as required.
Selection Criteria and Essential Competencies:
-Requires an understanding of environmental science, business administration, and development of construction projects and project management.
-Requires experience in managing projects.
-Requires knowledge of technical writing for the preparation of contract documents, scopes of work, presentations and technical reports and specifications.
-Requires an excellent knowledge of English to communicate effectively with others and prepare technical reports.
-Knowledge and experience is considered to be normally acquired through the completion of 4 years of relevant university training (Grade XII plus 5 years) or equivalent experience in the electrical utility industry.
-Demonstrated strong adherence to safety policies and procedures, and lead by example.
-Project development phase (environmental, Indigenous and stakeholder engagement) knowledge and experience is considered an asset.
-An understanding of the Project Delivery Model/Project Life Cycle.
-An understanding of project finance (forecasting, estimating, and cost control), the ability to analyze financial data and take appropriate action, and the ability to produce quality reports.
-Demonstrated professional level of communication skills, both oral and written, to communicate effectively.
-Demonstrated record of solving problems that require analysis of numerous variables and alternative solutions, and exercising judgment.
-Demonstrated record of self-motivated behavior and perseverance to accomplish objectives in spite of obstacles.
-Demonstrated ability to coordinate work (technical and non-technical), and work in a team environment.
-Demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision.
