The Business Development Executive, Pharma Partnerships is responsible for proactively generating, developing, and delivering new revenue-generating collaborative development projects, utilizing Leica Biosystems’ Advanced Staining and Digital Pathology technologies, with strategic Pharma partner accounts. The Business Development Executive will provide analysis and evaluation of new Companion Diagnostics (CDx) partnership opportunities that support Leica Biosystems’ strategic goals and optimize the use of company resources (people, products, services, budgets) to win business. The Business Development Executive will use their deep expertise and knowledge of CDx to provide solutions to support pharmaceutical programs which lead to long term profitable business.

This position is part of the Advanced Assays & Pharma Services team and will be fully remote. At Leica Biosystems, our vision is to advance cancer diagnostics and improve lives. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Independently prospect and generate leads leveraging relationships with key decision makers in senior-level Pharma positions including CDx, R&D, commercial, translational, and Business Development.

  • Apply specialized knowledge of the CDx market and biomarker clinical trial strategy to understand and apply customer-focused solutions to Pharma partners.

  • Enable identification and development of strategic and value creating opportunities for CDx.

  • Effectively engage in a wide range of internal and external functional areas including Legal, IP, Finance, Product Development, Regulatory Affairs, Operations, Sales & Marketing, Project Management and Alliance Management in order to develop and maintain effective companion diagnostic partnerships contracts, proposals, and statements of work.

  • Provide alliance management support for existing contracts.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Experience an in-depth knowledge of the companion diagnostics development process to support prospective lead generation, including IVD product development, design control, oncology clinical trial strategies, and the current regulatory landscape of companion diagnostics in various global regions.

  • Well-connected in pharma and biotech at a decision maker level. Proven track record in Business Development with minimum of 5 years developing, negotiating and securing high value deals.

  • A solid foundation in histopathology and experience in digital pathology a plus.

  • Experience in formulating and successfully commercializing new business opportunities an advantage.

  • University degree in natural science or medicine, PhD or MBA is a plus.

  • Travel expectations within this role are high (>50%).

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Strong customer service orientation with an ability to work in a fast paced, rapidly growing environment.

  • Compelling communications style, both verbal and written, adaptable to each situation, whether one-on-one or group presentations at a senior executive/ C-suite level.

  • An ability to manage multiple deals at once with an eye towards strategic value, business opportunity, and cost.

  • Responds to difficult situations in a calm and constructive manner and creates and executes “win-win” situations for the company and the pharma partner.

The salary range for this role is $150,000-$190,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
