The Friendship Centre provides cultural programs and services in health, social services, family preservation and traditional parenting, housing support, education, and cultural connections for all people of all age groups.
About the role:
We are looking for a professional with a friendly attitude and the ability to multitask. In this position, you will greet guests entering the building and help direct them where they need to go. In addition, you’ll be responsible for answering and managing the phones. If you enjoy people and are committed to doing excellent work, then we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
- Support RDNFS staff- meet/greet participants, any messaging/photocopying/faxing/scanning requested.
- General Duties -answer phones, relay emails/retrieve voice messages/oversee maintenance to phone lines, update staff phone list, order maintenance of equipment when needed.
- Program registration/referrals- receive and forward to appropriate program. (ie. 4D, Culture, youth)
- Housing Prescreen Applications- ask initial questions and forward housing prescreens to (ICE) once received.
- Petty Cash – cash cheque/ maintain cash count/give cash to staff once approved by supervisor/ensure all receipts are signed and requests are filled in properly.
- Gift Cards- maintain GC binder/ sign out GC to staff (once approved by supervisor)/ keep count of available GC’s (Inform supervisor when we need to reorder/make fund script payment at bank)
- Mail/Packages- maintain an incoming/outgoing mail log/record all incoming and outgoing cheques/ deliver and pick up mail to & from RDNFS satellite mailbox/sort and file client mail. (Make renewal payment when due)
- Office Stats- keep a count of reception contacts and forward to supervisors/maintain stats of RDNFS membership.
- Standup- (sign in sheet/joke or daily quote)
- Orange Tee-shirt Sales- receive cash or cheque and give receipts, assist program support when requested for inventory etc.
- Office Safe- knowledge of code and contents to be stored.
- Meetings- Attend staff development and operations team meetings. Set up invites and schedule meetings/set up board room.
- Drop In Area- maintain order and safety of staff and participants using drop in area.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Knowledge of community resources, Red Deer Services, and external resources.
- Experience working with homeless and at risk First Nation, Inuit, or Metis population.
- Experience answering and transferring phone calls.
- Experience in a receptionist or customer service setting.
