Position Summary:

With its innovative IT technology, SDS developed the integrated logistics solution called “Cello” in 2010, started its logistics business in 2012 and expanded its logistics business with Business Process Outsourcing.
We are looking for an Environmental, Health and Safety who will assume responsibility for key functions such as the JHSC, workplace inspections, incident investigations, return-to-work and internal audits. This role will develop and implement measures that will be instrumental in ensuring that the company’s health & safety and environmental management systems keep pace with business growth and regulatory developments.

Responsibilities:
· H& S Training Experience with Joint Health and Safety Committee responsibilities - including updates to training manuals, organizing external trainings for Working at Heights, maintaining training records and certifications, conducting annual WHMIS training and SDS updates. Chair meetings on a monthly basis, prepare agenda/minutes, safety talks etc.
· Responsible for Safety Awareness, Hazard Assessments.
· WSIB Claims Management - including RTW forms, RTW plans and injury follow up. Updating claims and meeting RTW specialist as needed.
· Researching legislative requirements, attending webinars and preparing action plans.
· COVID 19 or Future Pandemic Response: Follow up with public health, provincial and federal updates. Communicate with Human Resources as needed.
· Understanding of Site Docs and Safety Management- Participate with Operations in supplying documents as required.
· Familiarity with other Contractor Compliance regulations.
· Leading training, documentation compliance, record keeping.
· Lead & support operations leaders with the driver qualification & Over the Road compliance processes (online database for driver documents & Ministry of Transportation compliance)
· Liaises with regulatory authorities (Federal/ Provincial/Local Regulators) as required
· Support the field with collision & accident incident investigations and follow-up
· Delivers monthly reports and updates, and works with functional, site and market unit management to ensure effective communication of EHS information
· Support the locations with their annual EHS targets for incident frequency, severity and related cost reductions
· Maintains current knowledge of applicable legislation and management system standards
· Carry out Environmental Management System audits and related activities.
· Demonstrating competence and compliance in the execution of all tasks and leads by example in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
· Follow quality service standards and comply with procedures, rules and regulations
Qualification
· Minimum 2 years’ experience in EHS practices in fast-paced warehouse environment or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
· University Degree/ Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental Studies would be an asset.
· Comprehensive health, safety & environmental program administration experience in an operations setting.
· Capable of independently developing, implementing and monitoring a broad spectrum of HSE policy and procedure.
· Well-versed in applicable legislation and standards with strong experience interpreting and applying the law.
· Experience with WSIB Safety Excellence Program elements and requirements.
· College or University diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline.
· CRSP (Certified Registered Safety Professional) or CEP (Certified Environmental Professional) designation an asset.
· Comprehensive knowledge of Provincial Occupational Health and Safety legislation combined with training in hazard recognition, assessment and control.
· Able to work in multicultural environment & manage different shifts if required.
· Availability to work flexible hours to meet the business needs as required.
· Must have prior knowledge of warehouse Health and Safety practices.
· Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
· Must have ability to work efficiently with time management and organizational skills with follow-up and follow through.
· Ability to find root-cause of the problem, and troubleshoot independently.
· Strong written/oral communication including the ability to present in front of others, and demonstrate active listening skills are required.
