POSITION PROFILE
The Renaissance Edmonton Airport Hotel is looking for an energetic individual who is willing to take a client’s event experience from great to extraordinary. Sales Managers bring the business, but the Event Manager retains it and it is the Event Manager who will be responsible for planning and executing the function in conjunction with the client’s wishes. Event Managers must be patient when dealing with clients and also be able to take the opportunity to upsell and promote everything the Renaissance Edmonton Airport Hotel has to offer our customers.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage all assigned files to ensure documentation and contract compliance in relation to billing, room attrition and catering minimums
- Act as a key point person between the client and the hotel by producing accurate and detailed banquet event orders, floor plans and group cover sheets
- Provide creative enhancement options for each event to maximize revenue and customer satisfaction
- Be innovative to make each function, regardless of the size, a unique and extraordinary experience
- Nurture and grow client relationships to provide seamless execution, extraordinary results and repeat business
- Be a touch point during the functions, ensuring complete customer satisfaction
- Work with the Chef to ensure catering menus are up to date and in line with Renaissance brand standards while maximizing the hotel’s food and beverage revenues
- Willingness and ability to change and adapt on the fly as business dictates
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with fellow ambassadors as well as with hotel’s contracted services and suppliers including audio visual companies, florists, event planners and décor companies
- Ensure accurate forecasting of group revenue through CI\TY and weekly revenue calls, to assist with hotel’s revenue maximization
- Act as a guide through the entire function process; from contract signing to the end of the function
- Create strategies that drive revenue, increase efficiencies and reduce costs
- Proficient time management, attention to detail and organizational skills

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED; 4 years’ experience in event planning, event management, or hotel catering.
OR
- 2-year degree from an accredited post-secondary institution in, Hotel and Event Management, or related major; 2 years’ experience in event planning, event management, or hotel catering.
- Prior Marriott hotel experience required.
- Previous CI/TY experience required.
- Ability to work days, evenings and weekends as business demands.
