Salary: $62,000.00 (plus applicable benefits and HOOPP)
About the Organization:
The Barrie Area Native Advisory Circle is a regional social planning and development organization. The BANAC service region now covers Simcoe County, Muskoka, and the northern York Region. BANAC works in cooperation with communities in areas of concern where coordinated efforts are required to meet the needs which positively impact the region. BANAC will continue in this social planning capacity, offering consultation and support for our community development. BANAC offers many innovative programs and services including, Family Wellness, Childcare, Seniors Care and Long-Term Care, Cultural Services, and wholistic Health Services through the Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin Indigenous Interprofessional Primary Care Team.
About the Role:
The Executive Assistant plays a pivotal role in providing comprehensive administrative support to the agency and ensuring the efficient operation of the Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin health services. This position requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. The Executive Assistant will also occasionally provide support to the Operations Team as needed. This role is critical in maintaining effective communication, coordination, and organization within the department and across the organization. Possessing a wide set of skills and competencies in administration, the Executive Assistant will ensure full execution and communication of tasks and priorities as assigned.
This position will primarily support the Director of Health Services as well as the Executive Director Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin and the Director of Finance and Accountability. The Executive Assistant reports to the Director of Health Services and is aligned with the Operations Team in the BANAC organizational chart. This role will require virtual, in-person, and in-community work across the region with a base location selected by the Director of Health Services and the Leadership Team.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, Social Work, Health Science or a similar field; or a combination of training and relevant experience.
- Certification or experience in a health care role (e.g. nursing, social work, health promotion) an asset.
- Experience working with Indigenous organizations required.
- Proven experience as an Executive Assistant or administrative professional, preferably in a healthcare or Indigenous community setting.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications. Experience working with a Electronic Medical Record Software is an asset.
- Understanding of cultural safety and trauma-informed care principles, with a commitment to incorporating these into daily practices.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
- Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and life promotion is an asset.
- Knowledge of Ontario’s healthcare system an asset

- Work is typically performed in clinic, office, institutional and community settings.
- Regular travel to meetings, institutions and communities, will be required – vehicle an asset
- Regular overtime work may be required from time to time, BANAC team members enjoy a flex schedule agreement
- Periodic exposure to smoke may occur from the burning of sacred medicines: Tobacco, sweet grass, sage or cedar.
Specific employment conditions are specified in an employment contract with BANAC and include the following:
- Worksite location
- Valid C.P.R. and A.E.D. Certificates required
- Valid Class G Ontario Driver’s License is required with clear check for vulnerable sector
