What is the opportunity?
The Front Office Development team is looking for an exceptional Front Office Analyst to join our in-house technology team. Working as a member of the team you will predominantly work on our in-house portfolio management systems. You will have the opportunity to shape the future technical direction of the systems as we look to modernise our technology stack. The role has a mixture of business analysis, systems configuration, tactical development and support responsibilities.
While primarily a technical business analyst role, you will be a key member of the technology team that faces off with the investment teams, which will involve a range of activities from requirements gathering to promoting and supporting the tools developed. The role will also include attending meetings representing the team and systems we produce.
What will you do?
- Write technical and business requirements
- Liaise with Front Office stakeholders to gather there requirements
- Liaise with other stakeholders required to deliver the changes you work on
- Liaise with IT software engineers through the development life cycle
- Test changes to our systems before being released to production
- Support our suite of in-house built tools, liaising directly with portfolio managers and analysts to understand their issues and help resolve them
- Summarise issues that you have worked on, idientifying themes and system improvements
- Create and maintain dashboards utilising our internally built business intelligence application
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- A good understanding of buy-side trade, valuation, and risk/performance workflows, along demonstrable experience and knowledge of associated systems. Including Order Management System (OMS) experience and back-office valuation systems
- Strong data, SQL Server and T-SQL skills.
- You should be comfortable facing off to senior levels of the investment teams.
- Experience of support to portfolio managers, analysts and traders
- Proven ability to problem solve under pressure.
- Confident to take on training sessions across various business teams.
- Strong analytical and system design skills
- You will be a team player, with excellent communication skills, who is comfortable working with a range of technologies.
Nice-to-have
- Understanding of batch scheduling software
- Knowledge of SimCorp or Charles River
- Understanding of Fixed Income security types
- Previous experience in designing web and WPF front ends
- Ability to foresee operational risk investment technology workflow
- Agile working practices (Scrum, Kanban)
- Qualification or working towards CFA, IMC, FRM or PRMIA.
