Full-time Maintenance Assistant

Purpose of Position: Under the supervision of the Property Services Manager, you will provide general labour support to the Maintenance Department by assisting the
Maintenance Technicians and Property Services Technician with the maintenance of
Nepean Housing Corporation’s portfolio and the provision of a healthy and safe environment for residents, staff and visitors.

Qualifications:
Secondary School Diploma or Equivalent and/or trade school preferred;
Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills;
General knowledge of rental housing required and non-profit housing preferred;
Valid driver’s license;
Clear Criminal reference check.

Experience:
Some experience with property maintenance, or equivalent demonstrated work experience is expected (summer student work acceptable);
Knowledge of janitorial duties and practices;
Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.

Duties:
Supporting general maintenance through delivery of materials, notices and equipment; performing grounds keeping and cleaning duties; maintaining and reporting inventory of
NHC equipment and materials; assisting in a variety of repair activities such as wallboard installation, drywall and plaster patching, painting, plumbing/electrical repairs, floor tiling, carpentry, etc.; providing assistance for various inspection activities and assisting the
Property Services Manager in carrying out life safety equipment systems maintenance, such as smoke alarm and CO detector maintenance and testing, fire alarm testing, inspection of fire extinguishers and fire doors and common areas for safety hazards and repairs. Other duties as assigned.

Salary range: $25.30 to $29.03 (January 1, 2024) Hourly, 40 hour week. Along with
Great West Life benefit coverage, NHC employees are also required to be participants in the OMERS pension plan
