General Maintenace & Construction Assistant

Connon Nurseries is seeking a full-time Maintenance/Construction Assistant to join our team in Waterdown, ON.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Summary:

• Valid G driver’s license an asset, ability to drive a truck and trailer an asset.
• Hardscape experience is required.
• Be willing to learn how to use operate our tools and equipment.
• Installation of the following (but not limited to): carpentry, poured concrete, digging, and setting of fence posts, installation of sod, level and grading.
• Fill out accurate and appropriate information on equipment, truck & trailer circle checks forms.
• Operation and utilization of, and proficiency with, trucks, trailers and a variety of power tools and equipment for grounds maintenance, gardening & additional responsibilities as required.
• Ability to work outside in various weather conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs, bend, dig, etc.
• Executing general repair and maintenance work including painting, plastering, basic plumbing and electrical work (tasks that do not require an electrician’s license, e.g., changing light bulbs).
• Comply with all company policies and regulations.
• Promote safety, wear appropriate PPE and demonstrate hazard awareness at all times.
• Other duties as required.

Skills Required:

• Previous experience working with Farming machinery.
• Ability to Prioritize and multi-tasking.
• Highly organized.
• Good communication skills.
• Punctual and dependable.
• Self-motivated with an excellent work ethic.
• Horticultural knowledge is an asset but not essential.

Note - This position will also be On Call for an emergency situation that may arise.
