ABOUT THE JOB: The primary purpose of the HR Specialist is to act as an HR Generalist to work as a business partner to line management in providing timely support and advice.
RESPONSIBILITIES: On a day-to-day basis, the key responsibilities include:
- Maintain employee records, human resources information, systems and records
- Act as a lead on assigned recruitment requisitions;
- Perform full-cycle recruitment process including but not limited to screening, interviewing, reference checks and offer presentations
- Create, review and update job descriptions as needed
- Support all HR lifecycle events including leaves of absence and separations
- Identify and report on important regulations and legislation that impact HR and Health & Safety policies and procedures;
- Provide employee relations support to managers and staff;
- Facilitate the onboarding of new hires and conduct orientations, ensuring a smooth first-day experience
- Provide support in the development of appropriate internal communications programs to ensure a well-informed employee population;
- Actively initiate, participate in, and support continuous improvement initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS: To succeed, candidates must possess the following combination of education, experience and skills:
- Completion of an undergraduate degree;
- 5+ years of progressive experience in the HR field with exposure to various facets of the function, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, organization development and health and safety;
- CHRP designation would be an asset;
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills;
- Superior Project management and planning skills;
- Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to interact with all levels of employees;
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft products (MS Word and Excel);
- Confidentiality, diplomacy and tact are key competencies required for the role.
