Job description

We are hiring a Human Resources Assistant for our Owen Sound, ON branch!

Nature & Scope

  • On-board and off-board employees in our HR database as well as payroll system
  • Keep employee records up-to-date by processing employee status changes accurately and in a timely manner
  • Maintain personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements
  • Process Security Clearance applications, ensuring confidentiality is maintained for each employee
  • Maintain attendance records based on monthly reports from branch offices
  • Process internal uniform orders and maintain records of purchases and employee entitlements
  • On occasion, perform reference and background screening for potential candidates
  • Assist with payroll processing on an occasional basis
  • Other HR administrative duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and a high level of computer proficiency. Experience with ERP systems will be considered an asset.
  • Must be able to meet tight deadlines; have excellent organizational skills with demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain the highly confidential nature of human resource work
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with ability to articulate with accuracy and detail
  • Goal oriented and customer focused with an ability to multi-task and meet goals/deadlines
  • 2 year diploma in business/office administration or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Payroll experience, including a working knowledge of Canadian government legislation for payroll administration and reporting, considered an asset.
