HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT
JOB SUMMARY:
The Human Resources Administrator will report to the Human Resources Manager. The HR Assistant will provide front line interaction with employees, administrative support, data entry, and assist with Human Resource functions. This could be a development role that will include an increase in HR duties with experience.
JOB DUTIES:
- Employee Relations: function as an open door for employee issues, maintain positive employee relations, plan and execute staff functions, order promotional items, and manage charity initiatives.
- Recruitment and Selection- creating job documents, posting jobs, candidate selection, interviews, reference checks and managing staff tables
- Training and development- In charge of orientation and onboarding, tracking, and booking required training, sourcing out training suppliers, and bringing forward gaps in training
- Absenteeism Management- Process vacation requests, track attendance, report on daily absenteeism, and manage the attendance database
- Data Entry: Compile attendance and injury stats, track and administer benefit plans, corrective actions on workplace inspections and investigations, the Corrective Action Program reporting, safety tickets, WSIB Form 7’s, department stats, and government surveys
- Organizing: Updating and filing Employee personnel records, update staff directory and monitor and flag contract renewals, track return of materials upon employee exit, and keep safety bulletin boards, policy binder, and Emergency Plan
- Provide coverage for HR issues when HR Manager is out of the office working/ Wiarton/ Hope Bay/ vacation
- Administrative support with filing, creating contracts, and monitoring department deadlines.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
· Initiative-taking with the ability to think on your feet and operate independently in a busy department
· Proven ability to work independently as well as with a team
· Exceptional leadership and people skills
· Strong organizational skills and diligence
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Effective computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
· Degree, Diploma or Certificate in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field is an asset
· Previous experience working in Human Resources is an asset
