The Position
The HR Assistant will play a key role in supporting various Human Resources functions alongside the Human Resources Manager. The HR assistant will support recruitment efforts, onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, and HR initiatives for 100-120 staff members. This position requires a strong understanding of HR principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate across different levels within the organization.
The role is an excellent entry-level opportunity for new graduates with a diploma/ degree in Business Administration or Human Resources Management.
Schedule: FT- Perm, Monday-Friday from 8:00am-4:00pm
Location: Head Office, 27 Nixon Road, Bolton
Salary: $45,000-50,000/ yr
Responsibilities:
Recruitment Support:
- Assist in defining role requirements to develop job profiles.
- Utilize platforms like Indeed, LinkedIn, and other job boards to identify potential candidates.
- Conduct phone screens and in person interviews for entry-level positions
- Support onboarding and assist in managing new hire paperwork via HRIS (Humi)
HR Administration, Payroll, and Benefits:
- Collaborate in payroll support and terminations coordination.
- Assist in compensation reviews and benefits administration.
- Offer assistance in addressing employee complaints and conflicts
Employee Relations and HR Support:
- Aid in managing conflict situations and employee relations.
- Assist the HR Manager in providing guidance on performance management and disciplinary actions.
Health & Safety and IT Support:
- Collaborate with JHSC in ensuring occupational health and safety compliance.
- Assist in updating safety portals and enrolling employees in training courses.
- Provide IT support in collaboration with consultants, including but not limited to; establishing office equipment needs, setting up new employee cell phones, email signatures, and office phone navigation.
Other HR Initiatives:
- Assist in training others on navigating HR systems and tools.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and updating of HR strategies and policies.
- Participate in ad hoc reports and employee events as required.
Requirements:
- Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources.
- 1-2 years of experience in HR-related roles supporting recruiting activities
- Strong understanding of HR principles and procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.
- Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, independently and as part of a team.
- Proactive team player with problem-solving abilities.
