As a Human Resources Generalist at Waterville TG Inc., located in Petrolia, Ontario, you will be responsible for promoting and developing an environment of sound employee relations, consistent with plant objectives and corporate policies, while developing communication and relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Major Areas of Responsibility
- Functions as a resource for employees, providing support, information and available resources as needed.
- Provides guidance on the interpretation and administration of the WTG/UAW collective agreement.
- Monitors legislative changes/updates, develops/revises policies as necessary and communicates to various levels within the organization.
- Administers the Attendance Management Program.
- Assists supervisors and managers with monitoring and managing hourly team member performance.
- Conducts investigations into allegations of team member misconduct and/or rules violations, including claims of harassment.
- Initiates corrective actions as required, inclusive of progressive discipline.
- Administers the grievance procedure, inclusive of 3rd step meetings, mediation(s) and/or arbitration(s).
- Develops and implements HR programs, policies and procedures applicable to members of the bargaining unit.
- Responsible for claims management, including STD and WSIB, up to and including the return to work and accommodation processes.
- Administers benefits for hourly team members.
- Delivers some training in applicable areas as needed.
- Supports the development and maintenance of health & wellness initiatives.
- Responsible for administration of the WTG Skilled Trades Apprenticeship Program.
- Participates in development and roll-out of engagement and recognition programs.
- Functions as a collaborative part of the Human Resources and Administration team, providing support to team projects.
- Responsible for the application and promotion of WTG's general rules, policies, procedures and systems
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education specializing in Human Resources or Employee / Labour Relations preferred
- CHRP or CHRL designation preferred
- Minimum 5 years’ of experience, including Human Resources, labour relations, claims and benefits required
- Prior experience in a unionized manufacturing environment required
- Strong computer skills including prior experience using an HRIS system, and familiarity using the Microsoft Office Suite of products, including Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint required
- Working knowledge of, and hands-on experience in, the application of employment-related legislation required
- Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication and customer service skills required
- Ability to manage difficult interpersonal situations with maturity and calm required
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to prioritize multiple demands required
- Strong organizational, time management and conflict resolution skills required
