POSITION SUMMARY
The Human Resources Generalist provides guidance, support and coordination in the application of Human Resources policies, procedure and practices. The Human Resources Generalist will assist the Human Resources Manager to ensure that all aspects of Human Resources functions are carried out in compliance and accordance with all relative regulatory legislation, collective agreements and company policies.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Advise and assist departmental managers on interpretation and administration of Human Resources policies, procedures and programs, as well as revision and maintenance of policies
- Assist in ensuring that all relevant policies, procedures, practices, processes and systems meet organizational objectives and comply with applicable legislation
- Participate in development of HR objectives and systems, including metrics, queries, and ongoing reports for company requirements
- Assist the HR Manager with aspects of labour relations, such as negotiations and grievance handling when needed
- Provide education and information of benefits and pension plans; answer employee inquiries regarding Group Insurance coverage and Pension Plan details
- Assist in administering benefits, compensation, and employee performance programs
- Administer the Short-Term Disability process including completion of required claim paperwork, employee leave notification paperwork, as well as any arrangements required for modified duties and/or return to work
- Assist the HR Manager in developing and implementing programs within the company in accordance with company Human Resources policies and procedures
- Maintain confidential and organized employee records
- Foster healthy working environment and promote positive climate within the workplace
- Assist in the screening, interviewing and selection process of prospective employees
- Represent Wasaya at Career Fairs and other employment related events
- Amend and revise training programs as necessary, in order to adapt to the changes that occur in the work environment and/or legislation
- Perform and uphold Wasaya’s Customer Care Commitments to both internal and external customers
- Any other related duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- A post-secondary diploma, degree or certificate in Human Resources or related field
- 2-4 years previous Human Resources experience preferred
- Experience working in a unionized environment

ASSETS
- Ability to communicate in Oji-Cree or Ojibway
- Aviation experience is an asset
- Previous Human Resources experience in a Federally regulated work environment is an asset
