POSITION: FT HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST

SECTOR: ADMINISTRATION

JOB DESCRIPTION

The HR Generalist supports the Director of Human Resources in routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource processes such as compensation, benefits, leaves, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance and talent management, recognition, morale, occupational health and safety, and training and development. The successful candidate will be part of a supportive, collaborative Administration Department that includes Human Resources, Finance, Data Quality, IT, Facilities, and Marketing. As the HR Generalist, you would:

  • Manage training, including sending notices to staff, troubleshooting, recording and filing annual certificates, booking venues, and arranging catering
  • Copy, distribute, record and file Joint Health and Safety Committee monthly inspection sheets
  • Update Organizational Charts monthly
  • Prepare flower orders for staff life events
  • Prepare job postings and review the recruitment inbox, distributing applications as appropriate
  • Assist in talent acquisition and recruitment processes
  • Oversee and coordinate staff onboarding events
  • Assist with the maintenance of the HR monthly score card, including the summarization of client incident reports
  • Assist with the licensing review for various Ministries
  • Complete and submit workplace injury claims to the WSIB
  • Maintain job descriptions and update as required
  • Monitor the maintenance of staff personnel files and take corrective action
  • Take part in accident and harassment investigations, file appropriate reports and make recommendations
  • Monitor and interpret employment legislation and amendments and recommend policy changes
  • Assist in the administration of the group pension, RRSP and benefits plans
  • Act as the back-up to the HR Director for verifying payroll
  • Sign cheques for the Agency and approve electronic bill payments
  • Conduct exit interviews with staff, students and volunteers
  • Prepare agendas and record and distribute minutes for the monthly Board of Directors meetings

Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 8-hour shifts. Primarily days with one night per month for Board meetings. Must be available for occasional events that occur on evenings or weekends, such as the Annual General Meeting and Strategic Planning meetings.

Training: Initial comprehensive training related to all aspects of the role, as well as access to ongoing professional development

Annual salary: starting at $54,074 plus comprehensive benefits

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

TO APPLY, YOU MUST:

  • Have a University Degree in a related field and/or a college diploma from a Human Resources program; CHRP designation preferred
  • Have a minimum of 2 years’ combined student placement and/or paid experience working in Human Resources
  • Be proficient in MS Office and be familiar with databases
  • Have access to reliable transportation
  • Be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Be able to plan, prioritize, organize and complete work efficiently and within timelines
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to establish and maintain relationships based on mutual respect and trust
