POSITION:Maintenance Assistant

STATUS: Permanent Part Time (2-3 shifts per week and vacation coverage to support operations)

Summary of Position

The Maintenance Assistant is a central point of contact at Sidney All Care and performs a variety of maintenance duties, which entails frequent problem solving and the ability to balance the pressures of meeting deadlines while delivering efficient, compassionate and courteous customer service.

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

• Maintenance and management of the building, its climate system (HVAC and Geothermal); Maintenance and management of the nurse call systems, resident safety system and equipment;
• Minor repairs including drywall work and painting
• Oversight of the fire alarm system including administration of the fire safety plan to team members;
• Oversees all service manuals, warranty information for equipment and systems, and all equipment maintenance;
• Operationally performs required department responsibilities and assists team members as required in all departments.

The ideal candidate will possess:

• One year of building maintenance experience;
• Experience working in a long term care home considered an asset;
• Knowledge of common methods, tools, and equipment used in general building and grounds maintenance work;
• Knowledge of all maintenance related tasks including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, HVAC, sprinkler systems and generators.
• Current class 5 driver’s license required

WORKING CONDITIONS

Available to work weekends and be able to respond to short notice calls as required

This position includes indoor, outdoor, and garage/shop work environments

The candidate must also be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the job and meet the physical working conditions indicated below: The employee must be able to:

• Ability to lift, and carry 50 pounds and push or pull a cart/dolly
• Ability to stand, walk, crawl, and reach horizontally above shoulders
• Ability to bend at the waist, kneel or crouch
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to work on rooftops, at heights, and in confined spaces
• Ability to climb a step stool/ladder and scaffolding
