We have a full-time Maintenance Assistant position at Carey Place and Linwood, both of our affordable housing communities.
About You
As a Maintenance Assistant, you possess exceptional interpersonal skills and a strong ability to build and maintain relationships with team members, residents, and external partners. You are highly service-oriented and enjoy working collaboratively with others while also being capable of independently carrying out your responsibilities. With your highly developed mechanical skills, you have a proven ability to maintain and repair a wide range of appliances, equipment, and systems. As a critical thinker and problem solver, you approach challenges with a detailed and organized mindset. Adaptability and flexibility are your strengths, allowing you to thrive in a dynamic environment. You effectively manage your time, workload, and conflicting priorities, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently. In your role, you contribute to the smooth operation of our facilities by providing essential support to create a safe and comfortable environment for our residents and team members. Must Haves
- Formal education or equivalent training and experience in facility maintenance
- Minimum of 5 years of related repair and maintenance experience.
- A sound knowledge of codes, regulations, and best practices related to maintenance.
- Experienced driver with a minimum of a Class 5 license
About The Role
- Fosters positive, collaborative relationships with residents, team members, families, and partners.
- Performs or coordinates routine building and equipment maintenance and repairs, including painting, plumbing, electrical, irrigation, and building fabric (walls, doors, ceilings, floors, and roof).
- Monitor the stock of repair parts, tools, and supplies on-site.
- Travels to purchase and pick up replacement supplies as needed.
- Ensures maintenance work and storage areas are clean and organized.
- Performs annual suite inspections as requested.
- Assists in emergencies at the residences and/or emergency repairs as required.
- Supports on-site contractors.
- Performs preventative maintenance according to the preventative maintenance schedule for buildings and equipment.
- Participates in on-call coverage for after-hour emergencies, as needed.
- Addresses maintenance concerns on time.
- Supports on-going inventory audits.
- Maintains current knowledge of applicable codes and regulations.
- Participates in team meetings.
- Ensures common areas are cleaned regularly.
- Maintains records of preventative maintenance, repairs, and on-demand maintenance.
- Establishes, influences, and supports a culture of health and safety.
- Takes initiative and makes suggestions for health and safety improvements in the workplace.
- Identifies hazards and unsafe work practices, corrects them when possible, or reports them to a supervisor.

Your Work Location
Victoria is recognized as one of the top twenty global cities for quality of life. Your work location will be at our newly established Linwood and Carey Place communities, with the time spent at each site determined by operational requirements.
What You Receive
Your total compensation includes a wage of $32.00, a comprehensive benefits package, four weeks’ vacation, RRSP matching at 7%, and support for professional development.
