Job Summary: This position will provide clerical support to Nurse Practitioners and Physicians and work extensively in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The Medical Office Assistant (MOA) will assist the Clinical Nurse Coordinator in teaching staff to use the Electronic Medical Record and assist with orientation for new users. This position has front line responsibilities and as such requires an individual who presents to the public as a courteous, efficient, and knowledgeable. This position requires diplomacy and tact in dealing with the public, staff, and other service providers both within and outside the community.
Job Duties:
· Assist in ongoing support to all providers for the EMR; Assist staff when difficulties present.
· In conjunction with the Clinical Nurse Coordinator, provide orientation to all new employees/casual staff that are required to use the EMR.
· Assist the Clinical Nurse Coordinator in providing ongoing training to staff when new information or changes becomes available.
· Ensure all documentation that is required to be scanned into the record is done in a timely manner.
· Create mapped form templates; Manage incoming documents – direct as needed.
· Coordinate referrals; Documenting appointment notices and inform recipients.
· Link all unmatched/unconfirmed lab results.
· Confirming demographic information on all clients.
· Provide clerical support to NP’s and physicians.
· Coordinating provider schedules, includes communicating with Primary Care Clinic Coordinator (SHA).
· Filing of medical information; Assist reception at peak times, as needed.
Job Skills & Qualifications:
· A certificate from a recognized business college or at least one year of related work experience.
· Experience with Med Access EMR and Provincial E-health viewer preferred.
· Strong computer skills; Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Working knowledge of confidentiality and security of personal information.
· Current CPR-First Aid.
· Ability to speak Cree is an asset.
