Excel Personnel has been retained by our client in Kamloops, BC to recruit a Temporary/Contract Payroll Administratorfor an undetermined time frame starting immediately with of possibility of turning into a permanent position for the right fit candidate.
Our client is in the industrial maintenance and construction industry serving Oil & Gas sectors in Western Canada. Our client prides themselves on robust safety and quality management programs to ensure consistent service delivery and catering to specific project needs.
The Payroll Administrator will be responsible for accurately preparing and completing payroll and unionized onboarding of staff and benefits administration.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Enter new employees/Direct Service Providers into systems (Sage - 300)
- Organizing timesheets and employees as per their work department
- Ensuring all employees time is entered daily and submitted for payroll
- Maintaining an accurate and up to date job detail listing of each department
- Reviewing and verifying all direct deposits Completing payroll
- Knowledgeable with various Unions and maintain updated info from Collective Agreements
- Issue ROE’s, and create any amendments as required
- Ensuring all Employees/DSP’s receive confirmation of direct deposit via email
- Providing backup administration duties as required
- Assist in resolving issues/concerns or direct them to the appropriate resource
- Communicating any reports Project Managers might need as per their site requirements
- Supporting Administration staff on site
- Prepare and present a variety of status financial reports upon request
- Review and verify LEM’s with proper coding
- Maintain the general filing system and file all correspondence
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3 years proven working experience as a Payroll Administrator in a unionized environment
- Previous experience working with multiple Union Agreements
- Thorough knowledge of payroll principles and procedures
- Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
- Strong computer skills in Excel, Word, Sage 300, Outlook and Company database
- Sage 300 experience an asset as have switched from Visa and will all be trained together
- Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
- Effective verbal, written and listening communication skills
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Very effective organizational skills
- Stress and time management skills
- Ability to make decisions, prioritize and find solutions
- Work cooperatively with other employees, customers, clients, and the public
COMPENSATION: $30.00 per hour. Hours of employment are based on a 40-hour work week, 8:30am to 4:30pm with an unpaid lunch period.
