The Payroll Specialist supports the Manager, Payroll in processing all payroll functions accurately and within required timelines for Equitable Bank and its subsidiary, Bennington, utilizing the Dayforce payroll platform. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining a high level of customer service, with an emphasis on dealing with internal employees. The incumbent will be a subject matter expert and have excellent knowledge of finances including accounting principles and practices.
The Work !
- Process the bi-weekly payroll and ensure all source deduction benefits, taxes, ESPP, RRSP and other remittances are processed on a timely basis in accordance with statutory and contractual requirements;
- Process employee stock option exercises and tax remittances;
- Prepare month-end commission, stock-based compensation and bonus accruals, post payroll-related journal entries and reconcile payroll accounts to the general ledger;
- Prepare monthly payroll reports and accounting schedules, including the headcount and payroll-related budget to actual variance analysis with comments on significant variances;
- Prepare, reconcile to the general ledger, and file all statutory required quarterly and year-end filings, including the T4/Releve 1 reporting process; and
Let’s Talk About You!
- Have a post-secondary education in a related field
- 3+ years of experience in managing Enterprise level payroll processing and accounting with more than 250 headcounts and above
- 2+ years of knowledge of all aspects of payroll processing, including statutory regulations and filing requirements, employee benefits packages
- Intermediate work experience with Microsoft Excel - Marco VBA is a strong plus
- Preferred experience in Ceridian Dayforce, including knowledge of HRIS systems tied to the payroll system
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to respond in a clear, concise and professional manner
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong supervisory skills and the ability to work well in a team collaborative environment.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to thrive in fast-paced environments with tight deadlines
The incumbent will be working hybrid and in office time will be spent working from Equitable Bank’s additional office space located at 351 King Street East, Toronto, ON.
