Project Overview

Bechtel Infrastructure will work in a Delivery Partner role within an integrated team with the customer organization for the Ontario Line Project in Toronto, Ontario.  The project scope includes the design build, operations and maintenance of all infrastructure and rail systems associated with 15 stations and over 15km of new alignment, being performed by two key PPP Contractors (Project Cos) and other Contractors for the balance of the scope.  The project interfaces with both the City of Toronto (COT) and Toronto Transit Commission (TTC).  Bechtel form a key component of the overall Integrated Project Delivery team (comprising the customer, Metrolinx; the Technical Advisor, and Bechtel as the Delivery Partner). 
Position Summary
The BIM Specialist is responsible for implementing BIM processes to support delivery of the Ontario Line Project.  The BIM Specialist is responsible for management of the cross-functional collaboration environment, including BIM/CAD model development, coordination to comply with Project BIM Execution Plan (BEP); 4D/5D processes and to drive an innovative culture on Project. 
Job Responsibilities 
-Develop and review the project BIM strategy, requirements, and BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) 
-Develop and review standard CAD templates for standardizing the deliverables  
-Ensuring coordination of BIM activities (i.e., coordinate systems, standard templates, clash management, design review, etc.,) are shared and complied to among the design subcontractors, 
-Provide BIM production support to project teams, champions maintenance of the: Common Data Environment (CDE), model federation and interference management, quality checking deliverables (3D/2D), model coordination and deliverable generation to satisfy project BIM uses. 
-Developing/Enhancing, communicating and institutionalizing standardized BIM workflows to the project stakeholders and subcontractors (e.g., Design, Construction, and Project Management)  
-Develop/Enhance standard processes for BIM/3D model health check against project requirements 
-Maintains the project Exchange Information Requirements for flow-down to the supply chain, coordinating with the TA on specification changes 
-Training of project delivery team on the CDE (ProjectWise) and associated BIM workflows to support the delivery of the project key processes and deliverables 
-Develop standard workflows for inter-operability between BIM/CAD with GIS to support construction & sustainability and permitting processes  
-Conducts regular Assessments to review the implementation of the BEP and compliance to the project execution strategy, capture Lessons Learned and seek opportunities for improvement 
-Serves as a liaison between PCOs, IPT, and IT for resolution of BIM related issues 
-Performs and manages the work in accordance with relevant Project Procedures and information requirements (EIR/AIR/PIR) 
-Create standard processes for the preparation of model based design quantity take-offs, enables construction quantity reporting processes and forecasting 
-Supports design and construction reviews and coordination and manages issue/action logs  
-Visits PCo sites and job sites to facilitate BIM discussions and execution 
-Provides operational support to PCo BIM coordinators, including the BIM Lead(s) at 3rd Party engineering consultants, design firms and/or subcontractors. 
-Participates regularly with off-project functional BIM team for training and development, knowledge sharing, management and lessons learned 
-Develop processes to integrate BIM/3D models with schedule to generate 4D simulation of construction sequence 
-Develop processes to integrate BIM/3D models and Quantity Take-off Templates for construction progress tracking and reporting 
-Ensures the project meets the information requirements, and industry wide standards (i.e. ISO19650).   
-Capture lessons learned and manage the implementation improved workflows. 
 
Qualifications and Skills
Basic Qualifications
-BS in  Engineering,  Construction Management with 10+ years of experience in project delivery or MS in Engineering, Construction Management with 8+ years of project delivery experience 
-Minimum 5 years’ experience as BIM/CAD Manager/BIM lead leveraging or managing technology in design and construction  
-Possesses strong communication skills and the ability to relay BIM/CIM and technology solutions to engineering and construction professionals. This includes facilitating meetings with project management & client-facing presentations
 
Additional Qualifications
-Professional Engineering License/Registration (preferred) 
-Proficiency in AutoCAD, InfraWorks, Civil3D, Revit and interoperability with GIS 
-Working knowledge and proficiency with collaboration and data management solutions: iTwin, Navisworks, Synchro, 3D/BIM-enabled quantity takeoff and BIM-enabled estimating tools (Assemble, CostOS, etc) 
-Knowledge of Design-Bid-Build, Design/Build, Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), LEAN and other modern contractual delivery methods 
-Understands project workflows from design, estimation, construction administration and coordination 
-Collaborates well in a team environment 
-Ability to manage priorities and take on additional evolving responsibilities
