Vermilion Public Library serves a rural community in east central Alberta. We connect our community by providing and promoting library and information resources in a welcoming and accessible public space. Our major service goals for 2021-2025 include providing access to lifelong learning through new experiences and ideas, offering a hub for community building, and developing readers for life.
We're seeking a part-time Program Coordinator (0.6 FTE) to help us meet our service goals by developing, coordinating, and evaluating our library programs and community outreach services.
Essential Duties
1. Plan and deliver youth and adult programs to meet the library’s service goals through partnerships, training and recruiting facilitators, or delivering the program directly.
2. Assist the library manager in building partnerships and community contacts to promote library services and programs to the public. Identify and develop a list of key community contacts.
3. Develop marketing strategies with Media personnel for all programs and events
4. Brief staff on all ongoing programs and report regularly to the library manager on ongoing programs
5. Serve as the lead on reporting, recording, and analysis of data in relation to the library’s programming goals and objectives. Prepare a variety of reports and surveys to evaluate success.
Qualifications
A Library Technician diploma/degree in a related field; OR a minimum of 2 years of experience in public library service or event planning; OR any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential duties.

The Program Coordinator will play a key role in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of our programs. New programs we've launched in 2023 include a dungeons and dragons for beginners group, Tech tips at the Seniors Lodge, and an annual Seed Swap. We look forward to new ideas the candidate will bring to the role.
This position involves up to 30% remote work as minimum staffing on site will allow.
