About the role
The System Administrator role is an IT specialist with expertise in Microsoft Active Directory and Server Operating Systems including Linux/Red Hat and VMware Enterprise environments along with other systems software and collaboration toolsets required to operate and support Stelco’ s IT infrastructure.

This position reports to Information Systems Services Manager.
This is an onsite position.
Your day-to-day
· Responsible for managing and supporting Microsoft Windows Server 2016 through 2022 including W10 and W11 Operating systems.
· Responsible for managing and overall administration of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, SFTP and IIS Services.
· Installing, configuring, monitoring and support of virtual environments (VMware).
· Managing and monitoring of Data Center hardware such as Esxi hosts and storage (NetApp, MSA) equipment.
· Managing server patching activities and collaborating with Vendors to ensure that environments are kept up to date with latest patches.
· Perform routine and scheduled audits of all systems supported by the System Hosting group, including backups.
· Perform server administration tasks (ie. User/group, security permissions, group polices, print services), research event-log warnings and errors, an monitor resources to ensure that systems architecture components work together seamlessly.
· Monitor Data Center health using existing management tools, and respond to hardware issues as they arise. Help built, test and maintain new servers.
· Working as part of the System Hosting team ensuring all environments are properly configured and monitored according to best practices.
· Participate in implementing and enforcing technology roadmaps and standards.
· Assist with maintaining and enforcing the security of the environments both internally & externally.
· Assist with solving complex problems and working with other teams on troubleshooting to identify root cause, and provide technical support when needed.
· Support a range of ITSM tools including Incident, Change and Asset Management.
· Participate in projects within IT, business, and manufacturing environments.
· Remain available for off-hours support for both Hamilton and Lake Erie facilities including weekends and evenings as required.
What you bring to the table
Job Qualifications
· Bachelor of Computer Science or related field.
· Minimum of 5 years’ industry experience
Job Skills and Knowledge
· Expertise with managing, supporting, and configuring server roles such as DHCP, DNS, Terminal servers, IIS.
· Experience with Linux/Red Hat Server solutions
· Experience with Server Patching
· Experience upgrading and monitoring of storage system NetApp and MSA Storage as well as have an in-depth knowledge or SAN and NAS.
· Experience deploying and monitoring server tools.
· Experience configuring and managing Active directory, file shares, group management, and group policies.
· Experience with group collaboration and working with internal and external resources to communicate project status, activities and achievements.
· Experience with File Sharing vendors, Dropbox, OneDrive
· Experience administering CyberArk is an asset.
· Experience with Citrix ADC Netscalar and DaaS are an asset.
· Exposure to Cloud computing, specifically Microsoft Azure is an asset.
· Knowledge of PowerShell and other scripting languages is an asset.
· Ability and willingness to learn and implement modern technologies.
· Strong attention to detail.
· Strong verbal communication, written communication, and listening skills.
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
· Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
· Clean driving record.
