Talent & Culture Manager

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Talent & Culture, this position will oversee and execute our Health & Safety programs on property and manage all Talent & Culture systems and data integrity to improve our colleague experience, productivity and reduce risk in the workplace.

What You Will Be Doing

Health & Safety:
  • Develops and analyses metrics related to workplace injury trends. Communicates statistics to managers and provides recommendations to reduce associated costs.
  • Manages the Hotel’s Certificate of Recognition (COR) with WorkSafeBC through annual COR audits and recommendations for improvement.
  • Work with Senior Management to ensure correction of identified deficiencies and recommendations through COR Audit Action Plan.
  • Assist departments in conjunction with Security in the hazard identification & risk assessment process, overseeing the creation and maintenance of relevant safe work practices
  • Develops all company Health & Safety policies and procedures, updating as necessary to ensure compliance of OH&S Manual
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance including development of proactive preventive strategies and safety education programs (e.g., Bullying & Harassment Prevention, Safe Lifting, WHMIS, etc.).
  • Work with Managers to promote and maintain a safe and healthy work environment, ensuring the maintenance of Safety Checklists, Job Task Checklists and correction of identified hazards
  • Completes annual First Aid Assessment and JOHSC Evaluation for WorkSafeBC
  • Assists with investigations with the Joint Health and Safety Committee as required
  • Manage the Attendance Support Program.
  • Organize and promote wellness programs and activities and host ongoing and annual events
Talent & Culture:
  • Assist the Director, Talent & Culture and all other Talent & Culture colleagues in developing and coordinating T&C programs
  • Assist in the administration and organization of colleague activities and events.
  • Assist in maintenance and updating of Company policies and procedures as per Corporate Talent & Culture guidelines
  • Manage compliance of Foreign Worker Program, including work permits and Provincial Nominee Program
  • Assist the department in on boarding talented and skilled employees as required
  • Manage colleague accommodation and employee parking program
  • Maintaining a confidential organized filing system for employee files, correspondence, policies, standards, and regulations
  • Prepare and administer bi-weekly payroll in a timely manner, while auditing payroll processing reports for accuracy.
  • Ensure final pay is accurate, timely, and in keeping with legislative requirements
  • Providing support with orientation and onboarding new employees & leaders
HRIS & Compliance
  • Data input and tracking of information into HR Systems (employee action forms, new hire files, status changes, training, benefits, pension, payroll audit trail, etc.).
  • Liaise with IT/Technology systems to manage colleague user accounts, access, grant/revokes
  • Maintain the hotel’s Human Resources Information Systems including but not limited to Dayforce and INES
  • Working familiarization with Hotel operating systems and timekeeping software including but not limited to Dayforce, WATSON and MS EXCEL.
  • Assist in reviewing and updating the internal Talent & Culture operational policies and processes in ensuring legal compliance to Corporate, Human Rights, BC Employment Standards, Labour Relations, Occupational Health & Safety, Privacy Act
  • Ensure job task check-lists are completed and on file for all new colleagues within their first month of employment
  • Ensure leadership is conducting probationary reviews in a timely manner for all new hires
  • Ensure exit interviews and Termination checklists are completed for all departing colleagues and analyze and summarize exit interview results for senior leaders to review
  • Assists the Director, Talent & Culture in preparation of reports required by Corporate Office and government agencies
  • Understand, communicate, implement, and adhere to all Talent & Culture policies & procedures, and provide guidance to departments regarding the policies & procedures
  • Partner with the Director and Assistant Director to understand and execute the organizations Talent & Culture strategy
  • Participate in regular fire drills, evacuations and training on safety and emergency procedures
  • Have a thorough understanding of the AccorHotels crisis procedures and follow these in times of need.
  • Carry out any other tasks as assigned
Your Experience And Skills Include
  • University or College degree/diploma in Hotel/Restaurant Management or Human Resources Management
  • CHRP designation an asset
  • Two years Human Resources and/or leadership experience required
  • Ability to demonstrate Accor’s Values and strict confidentiality
  • Computer literate (Microsoft: Word & Excel, Outlook, HR Manager, PowerPoint, Internet)
  • Comfort and ability to exercise compassion with the need to make business decisions
  • Enthusiastic and positive personality with ability to build strong relationships
  • Sense of urgency and the ability to prioritize
  • Self‑motivated, with the ability to make effective decisions
  • Demonstrates initiative, and the ability to multitask and work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain high service levels under pressure
