TEMPORARY VACANCY
One (1) Temporary Full-time (1.0 FTE, 35 hours/week) Accounting Clerk (12 months per year)
START DATE: As soon as possible
END DATE: January 3, 2025
End dates for all temporary vacancies will end early if incumbent returns or circumstances change.
WORK LOCATION:Bluewater District School Board, Accounting/ Financial Services
SUPERVISOR: Mindy Guilherme, Accounting Supervisor
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Maintain accounts payable system, including batch processing, balancing and reconciliation processes.
- Verify accuracy and completeness of documentation related to invoices and requisitions.
- Preparation of weekly cheque runs and EFT payment processing.
- Liase with vendors and staff regarding status of accounts and resolve matters of question.
- Maintain and setup Deferred Salary Leave records and transfers (biweekly).
- Prepare and reconcile board information related to claims, recoveries and rebates.
- Assist the accounting department and school office staff in accounting and reconciliation procedures.
- Complete monthly, quarterly and year-end account reconciliations.
- Develop and deliver training modules to Board staff as needed.
- Account analysis and reconciliations as assigned.
- Other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- College Diploma with an Accounting focus or equivalent required.
- Minimum two (2) years accounting experience in a mid to large multifaceted computerized corporate environment.
ASSETS:
- Knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) accounting standards, and Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Working knowledge of an accounting data base such as K212 Finance or equivalent.
- Must have a high aptitude in computer skills (Excel, Accounting software, Word).
- Demonstrated sound decision-making skills involving the use of initiative, judgment and resourcefulness with the ability to plan work from general procedures.
- Attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
- Strong communication and analytical ability with excellent interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated team member with excellent time management skills.

- Eligible to work in Canada.
