Position: Accounting Clerk
The Accounting Clerk is primarily responsible for the company’s invoicing function and provides general administration support at our Whitby location.
Overview: At Echelon Supply and Service, our focus is hose! We are specialized in the fabrication of custom hose assemblies and kits as well as bulk distribution of hose and fittings. Since 1976, we have been striving to consistently provide insightful customer service with experienced and knowledgeable staff. As the exclusive representative of Forsaflex hydraulic and industrial products, we maintain fully stocked warehouses in 6 locations across Canada, reliably serving a wide range of industries. Due to current, as well as projected future growth, Echelon Supply and Service is currently seeking an Accounting Clerk for our Whitby Branch.
Responsibilities:
- Performs a variety of general accounting support tasks in an accounting department including:
- Issue customer/intercompany invoices and submit either by mail/email/fax/customer portal.
- Reception (answer of telephones, redirecting of calls and respond to customer inquiries)
- Open mail, prepare summary of cheque deposits and daily banking.
- Processing of credit/debit card payments through virtual payment processing.
- Back up for posting of payments (wire payments, credit/debit card, cheques/lockbox)
- Assist with accounts receivable process (manage credit releases, opening/maintaining of customer accounts)
- Back up/assist with accounts payable process (matching of packing slips against invoices/posting/reviewing of freight charges/filing)
- Assist in yearend audit.
- Other related duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Motivated self-starter with a strong proven track record of 3+ years of relevant experience
- Strong work ethic, organizational skills & attention to detail
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting, or another related field preferred, but not required
- Highly organized, with the ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to multi-task, and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent written & oral communication skills
- Solid computer skills including use of MSOffice (Word, Excel & Outlook)
- Math skills and familiarity with basic accounting principles
- Flexibility and willingness to perform a variety of support tasks
- Collaborative problem-solving, negotiating, and conflict resolution skills
- Confidence and ability to perform well under pressure
- Ability to plan, organize multiple priorities, schedule and meet deadlines
- Familiarity with industrial and hydraulic hose and fittings would be considered an asset.
