The Department of Physical & Environmental Sciences is built on a strong foundation of dedicated staff and faculty. Your opportunity:
As the Finance Clerk, you will provide administrative support to every part of the Department’s Finance team’s functions (accounts payables, receivables, payroll, and reporting). To be successful you will need to foster cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders. Your attention to even the smallest details will be critical in ensuring that financial transactions are posted correctly. Your efficiency and accuracy in collating and organizing materials will be essential in ensuring the smooth delivery of administrative services in our high-volume Department.
Your exceptional organizational and customer service skills will enable you to proactively engage and support the needs of our faculty, students and campus partners. Your creativity will help foster an environment of innovation designed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our processes.

Your responsibilities will include:
-Preparing accounts payable and accounts receivable according to the University Guide to Financial Management.
-Preparing expense reimbursements, cheques and/or cheque requests.
-Preparing and/or recording journal entries, deposits, and payroll records for processing.
-Performing routine data entry.
-Maintaining filing system.
-Responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriate.
-Collecting and maintaining supporting documentation from departments
-Recording detailed transactions for many accounts
 
Essential Qualifications:
-Advanced College Diploma (3 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
-Minimum two (2) years of financial and administrative experience in a customer-service oriented environment, preferably in a post-secondary academic setting.
-Must have excellent knowledge of MS Excel, and have experience in preparing and maintaining spreadsheets.
-Strong proficiency with MS Office 365 suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, SharePoint, etc.)
-Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and set own priorities.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-Strong attention to details.
-Demonstrate tact and professionalism.
-Demonstrate initiative in problem solving, requiring minimal supervision.
-Must maintain confidentiality and adhere to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA).

Assets (Nonessential):
-Knowledge of the University Guide to Financial Management is a strong asset.
-Experience with Financial Information System (FIS) is a strong asset.
-Bookkeeping certificate is a strong asset.
