Under the general supervision of the Coordinator of Financial Services, the Accounting Clerk performs accounts payable and purchasing functions for multiple Departments in the Corporate portfolio. The position also receives goods and services in PeopleSoft for the Corporate Departments, prepares journal entries, and performs various other general administrative duties of the Campus Finance Division.
As the Accounting Clerk - Clerk B, you will:
- Perform accounts payable and purchasing functions for multiple Departments.
- Assists in administering a grant program.
- Record the receiving of goods and services in PeopleSoft.
- Act as back-up to other divisional administrative support positions, as required.
- Tracks travel and training for multiple departments and performs year end reconciliation.
- Prepare regular and as required journal entries ensuring proper documentation and authorization.
- Perform general administrative duties and other duties consistent with the classification.
Your education and qualifications include:
- High school graduation or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Good knowledge of office procedures and accounting functions.
- Ability to type at 20 wpm.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word (basic), Outlook (basic), Excel (advanced).
- Aptitude and ability to quickly learn new software programs required by the position.
- Previous experience working with PeopleSoft is an asset.
- Ability to carry out detailed calculations, analyze and reconcile records.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and files in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
- Ability to prioritize work and work independently with minimal supervision, while maintaining appropriate work habits.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and various levels of City staff.
- Ability to meet deadlines, follow oral and written instructions and exercise sound judgment.
