Events Coordinator

We are looking for an experienced Events Coordinator in Fort McMurray, Alberta, to successfully organize and execute all events in the organization. Some of the role’s responsibilities are building budgets, tracking expenses, coordinating with vendors and staff the logistics of the events, and evaluating success afterward.
Candidates should have knowledge of vendor management as well as excellent communication and attention to detail skills. In addition, candidates should be well-organized and dependable.
This role reports to the Programs, Events, and Community Collaboration Manager. It is a full-time position and requires someone in-office and in the community. The successful applicant should have experience using the skills required to coordinate the Membership and Community events.
Responsibilities
- Coordination and execution of all events, including Métis Fest, Infinity Golf Tournament, Louis Riel Celebration, Elders' Christmas Celebration, Memberships Meetings, etc.
- Build budgets for annual events and monitor to ensure events stay within scope and budget
- Work collaboratively with the Sponsorship Team to ensure Sponsors are tracked and recognized
- Work with all departments to enhance the event experience for Members and Community following the organization’s mission
- Liaise with vendors, exhibitors, artisans, and stakeholders during the event planning process
- Coordinate an organize volunteer opportunities
- Other duties as required
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or certificate in Event Management, Hospitality Administration, or related field
- Proficiency in Excel and event management software
- At least 4 years of experience organizing events, such as concerts and festivals
- Vendor management and customer relations experience
- Volunteer management training and/or experience

PHYSICAL & DOCUMENTS REQUIRED
- Flexible schedule, including early mornings, late nights, and weekend work.
- This position may include lifting supplies and equipment up to 50 lbs.
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- A Vulnerable Criminal Sector Check
