Join our growing team at DHC Communications. We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and qualified Fleet and Equipment Manager to play a key role managing and optimizing our fleet operations and Equipment.
As the Fleet and Equipment Manager, you'll take charge of supervising the maintenance, operation, and enhancement of our company's fleet of vehicles, machinery, and Equipment. Your duties encompass optimizing the efficiency of our fleet, coordinating maintenance schedules, overseeing budgets, and ensuring strict compliance with safety regulations. Your pivotal role is to guarantee the efficient utilization of organizational assets while upholding the highest standards of safety and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Fleet and Equipment Maintenance:
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for vehicles, equipment, and machinery.
- Coordinate and manage repairs and maintenance activities to minimize downtime.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
- Create and sustain equipment lifecycle timetables.
- Perform and/or manage third party repair of tools.
- Offer technical assistance to field personnel in case of equipment or tool-related issues, both in-person and remotely.
Asset Tracking and Management:
- Implement and oversee Fleet and Equipment management software.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment and vehicles
- Oversee hours of service regulations, logbooks, and other relevant compliance requirements. Ensure adherence.
- Monitor asset utilization and recommend replacements or upgrades when necessary.
- Maintain tracking systems for real-time location and condition monitoring.
Cost Control:
- Manage the budget for Fleet and Equipment operations.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize resource allocation.
- Negotiate contracts with service providers and suppliers.
- Cultivate and sustain partnerships with third-party service providers.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all equipment and vehicles comply with Motor Vehicle Act Regulations, NSC and CVSE.
- Develop safety protocols and conduct training for operators.
- Verify that personnel have the necessary qualifications to operate.
- Investigate and report accidents or incidents.
Inventory Management:
- Procure new vehicles, equipment, or machinery as needed.
- Monitor and manage spare parts and consumables inventory.
- Establish relationships with suppliers and negotiate favorable terms.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business management, fleet logistics, or a trade certificate in mechanics, experience in related field, or applicable work experience.
- Proven experience in fleet or equipment management.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance practices, regulations, and safety standards.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in using or willingness to learn fleet/equipment management software and tools.
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Possession of a Class 5 Air Brakes Endorsement or a commitment to obtain one.
- Proficient in hydraulics with a strong understanding of operation and troubleshooting.
- Skilled in loading and securely fastening loads.
- Competent in rigging.
- Adept at loading and unloading equipment and materials.
- Capable of driving, connecting, and operating trailers
