Fantastic management-level opportunity with one of Vancouver’s most known and loved corporate brands. Strategically planning and then executing meaningful health + safety initiatives for corporate employees. Working in a fun-loving, high-performance, supportive, and humble corporate culture. Many people have worked with this company for a very long time due to the company’s values and the opportunities for new learning and steady career growth. Reporting into HR Director.
What- the Opportunity:
Health and Safety Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to quickly join one of Vancouver’s most well-established and vibrant companies. This is a very well-rounded role and responsibilities span safety training and education, preventative action (training, ergonomics, physio, stretching, etc.), leave reduction/prevention, health + safety regulation and compliance (partnering with WorkSafeBC, complying with relevant Occupational Health & Safety regulations), crisis management and response, etc. The Manager will primarily support corporate and retail employees, but will also occasionally support employees who are “in the field”.
The Manager will report into the HR Director and will have many HR Managers in various specializations as colleagues/peers to collaborate with. This is an individual contributor role, so we are looking for a Manager who can be strategic and come up with the vision for H+S and then turn around and actually hands-on execute on that plan.
Rest assured this will be a fun and fulfilling role where you can really feel you are adding value and making a lasting positive impact on the work lives of hundreds of people!
Who- the Candidate:
We are seeking people with at least 5 years and preferably 7+ years of relevant work experience. Although someone who is already a Manager, H+S is of course the ideal candidate profile, we are also open to candidates who are Senior Advisors/Specialists in H+S who are very ready to step up and manage the corporate H+S function for a company OR to candidates who are HR Generalists/Advisors currently but have already been doing a lot of H+S work, have a deep passion for H+S, and want to specialize long-term in this space.
Candidates will have excellent communication skills (verbal and written, this Manager will be writing reports, making presentations, leading seminars, etc.). Some form of post-secondary education is required, and Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) certifications are very beneficial (the company will support their Manager in pursuing either of these certifications). Candidates will also be skilled in building strong cross-functional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Where:
Greater Vancouver in a collaborative and friendly office environment. Hybrid work schedule- after training and onboarding, the Manager can start to work from home 2 days a week.
How Much:
Base salary commensurate with level/years of work experience, education and qualifications, and relevance of Health & Safety portfolio- likely in the range of $96,000 to $120,000. Please discuss your base salary and total compensation expectations in more detail with SWIM.
This company provides their Managers with a robust total compensation plan which includes a bonus program, 4 weeks paid vacation (plus additional paid-time-off such as wellness days), an annual health allowance, relevant PD support, an RRSP match, and other perks. This organization promotes healthy work/life balance for their employees- we are looking for a Manager with a very strong work ethic and lots of accountability, of course, but most weeks the Manager will likely be working under 40 hours.
