About the work environment:
Peoples Group offers a flexible and hybrid work environment. In this role you will work a combination of in-office and remotely from home. Typically, you'll be working regular business hours, Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 4:30pm with flexibility around start & end times.
About you:
You are a forward thinking, strategic, and solutions focused accountant with a wealth of experience and technical know-how. You enjoy reconciling bank statements and balance sheet accounts and working with other areas to resolve issues. You have fantastic communication skills and detail orientation is your superpower. In this role you will collaborate with the Accounting Manager and internal teams to ensure that monthly, quarterly, and annual deliverables of the team are met.
About you / qualifications
- CPA designation or progression towards CPA.
- 4-5 years of progressive professional accounting experience.
- IFRS knowledge.
- Experience in a high-growth environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Ability to work independently while producing excellent results.
- Intermediate to advanced level of Excel.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail.
- NetSuite and Advanced Bank Reconciliation (ABR) experience an asset.
- Complete bank reconciliations for complex, high-volume bank accounts.
- Prepare journal reconciliations of various non-cash balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare and post journal entries daily for Canadian Payments activity for deposit accounts.
- Prepare and post journal entries for Mortgage Rate Buydowns and other lending-related activities.
- Reconciliation of Financial Position report with month-end balance sheet/trial balance.
- Prepare and maintain Procedure Manuals for all tasks.
- Assist with preparing responses to internal and external auditors.
- Ensure adequacy of controls to confirm accuracy, timeliness, and authorization, updating as business requirements evolve.
- Improve processes to enhance accuracy, efficiency, controls.
- Coordinate the month end close, including process improvement recommendations.
Peoples Group is pleased to offer employees a competitive annual salary and discretionary profit share opportunity. Salary for this position will vary between $65,000 and $75,000 per year depending on the knowledge, skills, abilities & experience that the chosen candidate possess.
