Junior Accountant

Our client, located in downtown Calgary, is seeking a Accountant for a permanent addition to their accounting team. This role will be a key piece in supporting the day-to-day accounting needs of the business and is a great opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities include:

• Daily reconciliation of bank accounts
• Respond to customer inquiries and follow up on past-due receivables
• Accurate entry of journal entries related to transactions
• Prepare journal entries, accruals
• Assist with the reconciliation of vendor statement and the processing of vendor payments
• Supporting schedules as part of the month end close process
• Invoice customers and process cash receipts
• Reconcile data from logistics to ensure completeness and accuracy of customer billings
• Support the accounts payable function with processing and entering supplier invoices, credit memos and employee expenses, in accordance with company policy and approval limits
• Assist with the preparation of GST filings
• Respond to ad hoc requests and fulfill other duties as required

Requirements include:

• 3+ years of experience in a similar role is preferred
• Post-secondary degree with a focus in Accounting or equivalent is preferred
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
• Highly organized with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook is required
• Experience within the oilfield services industry and/or manufacturing exposure is an asset
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV is considered an asset
