Position Overview:
We are seeking a driven and skilled Junior Accountant to join our Accounting team. As a Junior Accountant reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, your primary responsibilities will include managing the accounts receivable and payable functions for Teldon, leading the month-end and year-end closing processes, as well as conducting thorough account analysis and reconciliations. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and general ledger account reconciliations for accuracy
- Manage revenue, expenses, and accruals batches in Great Plains, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Conduct inter-company transfers and reconcile transactions to ensure accuracy
- Complete accounts receivable duties, including preparing customer statements, consolidating invoices, and reconciling customer accounts
- Support collections efforts to manage delinquent accounts, maintaining detailed communication records and soliciting payments
- Assist in completing accounts payable duties, including vendor account management, payment processing, and statement reconciliations
- Generate comprehensive accounts receivable reports on a weekly and monthly basis, providing insights into collection performance
- Provide timely support to all departments on accounting matters, including analysis, controls, and process improvements
- Perform additional related duties as assigned by leadership
Required Skills and Experience:
- 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the manufacturing industry
- Postsecondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline is required
- Active pursuit of a CPA designation is considered a strong asset
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially in Excel (including VLOOKUP, PivotTables, and complex formulas)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics GP and Salesforce is an asset
- Experience managing accounts across different currencies and international borders is an asset
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities
- Motivated self-starter who is proactive, results-oriented, and resourceful
- Strong relationship-building ability, displaying service excellence in dealing with internal and external stakeholders
