Job responsibilities
- Set up ACH Debit/PAP on a daily basis
- Reconcile funder payments for every ACH Debit/PAP run (twice a month)
- Set up electronic payments in the online banking platform for payments to vendors, suppliers and intercompany account transfers
- Upload data from the loan management system to the ERP on a weekly basis; review and reconcile upload to ensure data is accurate and resolve any differences
- Prepare documents and journal entries for intercompany sale of receivables
- Reconcile general ledger accounts including but not limited to bank, prepaid expenses, capital assets, intercompany, accounts payable and accrued liabilities
- Prepare monthly credit card reconciliation
- Provide backup coverage for funding deals
- Review deals entered by the Transactional team members for accuracy
- Administer accounts receivable and post bank receipts thru EFT, wire and cheque payments into the accounting system
- Coordinate with the Origination/Funding Department to ensure outstanding receivables are collected timely
- Assist and prepare government statistics reports
- Prepare month end working papers and schedules with the objective of delivering the monthly financial statements to senior management within 10 business days after the end of the preceding month
- Work with the auditors and assist with annual financial statements audit requests
- Assist with the preparation of small legal entity financial statements
- Assist with preparing state sales tax returns
- Organize and maintain filing system
- Other tasks, as required
Qualifications, knowledge and experience
- A strong sense of integrity, professionalism and a results-oriented attitude to continually improve processes and systems, enhance efficiency, and contribute to overall organizational success
- Works well under pressure to meet ongoing and overlapping deadlines within short time contraints
- Self-motivated with the drive to take on new challenges and learn new knowledge and skills
- Positive attitude and excellent customer service skills
- Detail oriented with attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset
- Bachelor or Diploma in accounting/commerce/business
- Enrollment in the Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant program is an asset
- Good understanding of accounting principles and how transactions affect the financial statements
- 2 years previous accounting experience working with general ledger and preparing reconciliations
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint are required
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central or other mid-tier ERP, and Sage 50
