Position Overview: As a Junior Accountant, you will play a vital role in supporting the Financial Controller with the day-to-day operations of the Finance department, ensuring adherence to the Association’s policies and procedures. Your responsibilities will encompass various tasks, including month-end and year-end processes, financial statements, audits, budgeting and forecasting, and grant reporting. Additionally, you will be responsible for reviewing payments and providing backup for accounts receivable and collections.
The successful Junior Accountant candidate will be supported with mentorship and development opportunities and will gain exposure to a variety of aspects of accounting.

Work Schedule: Full time, 35 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Support Financial Controller in daily finance department operations and help achieve departmental and organizational goals.
- Participate in month-end and year-end processes, financial statements, audits, budgets, forecasts, grant reporting, and deferred revenue recognition.
- Prepare journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial analyses.
- Review weekly payments for accuracy.
- Provide backup for accounts receivable processing and collections.
- Work with Membership Service Representatives and other administrative personnel regarding daily cash out issues and cash handling procedures, on an as needed basis.
- Work collaboratively with all departments to constantly improve and enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of financial processes.
- Assist the Financial Controller to ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures, and control protocols and takes corrective action when required.
- Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- Minimum 1-2 years of full cycle accounting work experience.
- CPA designation or in final stages of completion.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to extract, manipulate and analyze data from multiple systems.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy, with focus on meeting deadlines.
- Builds relationships at all levels within the organization and communicates financial matters clearly.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team and demonstrate a high-level ability for taking initiative and problem solving.
- Proven experience of handling confidential data.
- Current Security Clearance with Vulnerable sector screening.
- Working knowledge of Unison and/or SGA software (Stock, Garber & Associates).
- Working knowledge of Active Net.
