Our Optometric Patient Coordinator will be working closely with the doctor, staff and patients and will require excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:
As an Optometric Patient Coordinator at Midhurst Family Eye Care, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring a seamless and positive experience for our valued patients. Your responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
- Greeting and welcoming patients with a warm and friendly demeanor.
- Scheduling and confirming appointments for eye examinations, Dry Eye assessments, and Ocular and Medical Aesthetic services.
- Verifying patient insurance information and explaining coverage details.
- Conducting pre-testing, preliminary examinations and auxiliary testing to assist the optometrist.
- Assisting patients in our optical boutique by selecting frames and lenses based on their prescription, style preferences, and aesthetic considerations. We love patients looking their best!
- Assisting with optical tasks such as dispensing, adjustments, repairs, warranties, merchandising and inventory and frame management
- Processing payments for services and products with accuracy.
- Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records, with a focus on Dry Eye management and Ocular and Medical Aesthetic services.
- Providing information on proper eye care practices, promoting the importance of regular eye examinations, and educating patients on Dry Eye management and Ocular Aesthetic options.
- Assist with contact lens training and fittings.
- Maintain cleaning procedures and standards.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Additional education in healthcare administration is an asset
- Canadian Optometric Assistant certification is asset
- Previous experience in a customer service or healthcare role, preferably in an optometry setting.
- Familiarity with optometric terminology, Dry Eye management, and Ocular and Medical Aesthetic procedures.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in appointment scheduling software (electronic medical records) and basic office applications (Google Docs, Sheets etc. Microsoft Office)
- Attention to detail, good time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask working in a fast paced environment
- Maintain cleaning procedures and standards
