IATSE 891 is a labour organization representing over 9,500 professional artists and technicians working in nineteen (19) different departments in the British Columbia and Yukon film industry. We are seeking a Full-Time Temporary Receptionist/Office Assistant Floater to join our team with opportunities for advancement. The hours of work are Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Primary Function:
The successful candidate will perform reception, dispatch and office assistant duties directly for the Assistant Manager of Administration and up to the president.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drafts/updates letters, forms, spreadsheets, and other miscellaneous correspondence with a high level of accuracy
- Reviews and enters various types of information into the IATSE Local 891 database
- Answers and directs phone calls using a multi-line phone system.
- Provides back up in the Dispatch department
- Attends to walk-in guests of the IATSE Local 891 union office.
- Liaises with internal departments via phone and email.
- Processes incoming and outgoing mail as per defined procedures.
- Processes cash, debit, and credit card transactions for union dues, initiation fees, courses, and merchandise.
- Organizes and maintains an inventory of forms, pamphlets, and office supplies required at the front desk.
- Assists with scanning and electronic filing of various types of documentation.
- Provides ad hoc administrative support to various internal departments.
Qualifications:
- Completion of Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- One year of experience in Reception and Office Administration.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Familiar with office equipment such as multi-line phone systems, printers, photocopiers, and scanners.
- Polite and professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Understands principles of good customer service.
- Attentive to details.
- Works well working in a team environment as well as independently.
- Able to prioritize and organize workflow.
Testing may be administered to corroborate skills and qualifications. This is a Unifor bargaining unit position.

Salary: $26.26 per hour
