The Township of Perth East is seeking applications for a one (1) year contract Recreation and Community Services Coordinator at the Perth East Recreation Complex (PERC) reporting directly to the Manager of Parks Recreation and Community Services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for community recreation programming, special event planning and development and volunteer management.
- Acting as a liaison between the Township, Recreation Associations and Community volunteers by providing support and guidance.
- Prepares proposals and actively investigates grant opportunities that assist in obtaining Federal, Provincial and/or private funding for the enhancement of projects designed to meet the needs of the community.
- Maximizes public understanding and increase the awareness of the benefits of recreation through the effective marketing and promotion of designated leisure program opportunities.
- Partners with local volunteer groups and organizations, social agencies, school boards and specialized groups in the facilitation/implementation of indirect programs and services.
- Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Recreation Studies or a related discipline is required.
- Minimum of four (4) years’ related experience in a municipal recreation setting including direct programming and Community development required.
- Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, public relations/customer service skills required.
- Work environment involves direct contact with the public, elected officials, other levels of government, residents or staff to provide or obtain information and service that is important for operations.
- Able to work with interruption while meeting deadlines. Exposure to disagreeable people and situations is expected.
This is a contract position of 35 hours per week, one year contract with possible extension.
2024 Hourly Rate: $31.87 - $39.84
In addition, all employees over the age of 18 must successfully pass a Criminal Background/Vulnerable Sector Check.
